Proposition 8 overturned!

It’s official: Proposition 8 has been overturned in California. The judge in the case ruled that Proposition 8 violated the US Constitution’s equal protection clause, and stated that,
[T]he evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California constitution the notion that opposite-sex couples are superior to same-sex couples.

Sadly, this isn’t the end of it all of course. Appeals will no doubt be set in motion, and it’s possible we’ll see this battle fought all the way up to the US Supreme Court. And hopefully, we’ll see it won.
