Benoit Mandelbrot is very much still a living legend. I’ve just now got around to watching his TED talk from this year — he takes what is an extremely complicated and beautiful field of mathematics and manages to explain it in terms of a very familiar concept: Roughness.

By the time you read this, I’ll have voted.
