Richard Dawkins at Protest the Pope.
Richard Dawkins has somewhat of a reputation amongst people who’ve never bothered to actually read him as an ‘angry atheist’. If the only footage they everĀ do bother to see of the man happened to be his speech at the Protest the Pope Rally, I doubt their opinion of the man would change.
Of course, when you consider what Dawkins is actually angry about — attacks against reason and education, homophobia, the spread of HIV/AIDS and unsustainable third world family sizes due to unscientific anti-contraception propaganda, and child rape (to name but a few) — you might take a moment to consider that potentially, this is as calm as any decent human being could possibly be given the situation:
Oh, and as a side note to the Catholic Church: Next time, maybe don’t pick the dude who looks like he’s the personification of pure evil as your direct line to god. I mean, holy shit (so to speak) — don’t you guys have a marketing department or something to vet candidates? Someone who could have warned you that freakin’ Cardinal Palpatine may have protected kiddy fiddlers at some point in his illustrious career as a Jesus Shaman?
I bet that somebody lost their job over that one. After all, bad PR is way worse than the systematic concealment of child abuse.
